The Healing Trees, Inc. provides mental health and psycho-educational services in an atmosphere that promotes wellness lifestyles, learning, self-care, and overall health. Our mission is to provide a broad range of counseling, educational services, and other health and wellness services to the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) community. These services are intended to engage the physical, spiritual, emotional, social, intellectual, vocational, and academic needs of individuals, families, community groups, organizations, and businesses.
What We Offer
The Internship Program of The Healing Trees, Inc., is designed to provide advanced training in the skills of integrating spirituality and psychotherapy. This program is optimally designed to provide experiences through the entire 600 hour internship process in counseling. Many interns will find the internship program helpful in gathering practice hours toward completing their licensure while honing their skills in the integration of faith and emotional healing. Interns will have outpatient experiences provided primary through the Healing Trees, Inc.; but, they may also have duty assignments with our affiliates. These mental health entities counsel clients with a broad range of issues.
The Healing Trees, Inc. also offers a residency program for those seeking licensure as Licensed Professional Counselors. Counselors-in-resident are encouraged to demonstrate professional initiative while receiving support and consultation from staff. By the culmination of the residency experience, counselors-in-resident are expected to function as entry-level professionals with a sense of both ethical and professional responsibility. Opportunities will be provided for residents to offset the expense of supervision while in residency with The Healing Trees, Inc.
OBSIDIAN THERAPY GROUP
The therapists and counselors of The Healing Trees, Inc. are committed to providing holistic services to our clientele. The counseling and therapy services we provide address the total needs of our clients. This includes our clients’ psychological, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The Healing Trees, Inc. assists adult individuals, families, children and couples who are going through difficult times by providing the support they need to overcome their personal obstacles, find freedom from unhealthy patterns of behavior, and live fuller and more productive lives. Our facilities are warm and inviting, and conducive to emotional growth and development.
PEER RECOVERY TRAINING
The Healing Trees, Inc. (in conjunction with the National Association of Black Counselors, Inc.) offers a Peer Recovery Specialist Training Program for BIPOC individuals who have experienced a mental health condition or substance use disorder who have achieved a substantial degree of recovery. In the role of a Peer Recovery Specialist, they pull on these personal (lived) experiences of struggle with substance abuse/mental health condition(s) and recovery. Coupled with the program’s relevant training and supervision, Peer Recovery Specialist facilitate, guide, and mentor another person’s recovery journey by role modeling recovery and supporting others in treatment in their efforts to reclaim wellness.
CIRCLE OF SUCCESS/SPEAKERS BUREAU
Through the use of mental health professionals and other organizational professionals who have partnered with us, we are offering series of presentations to community organizations, schools, churches, teachers, parents/guardians and all who have an interest in gaining knowledge about mental health and wellness. The subjects include Domestic Violence, Child Development, Child Behavior and Discipline, Traumatic Stress, Anger Management, Self Esteem, Substance Abuse, Depression, Anxiety, Grief, Financial Wellness, and Nutrition and its Impact on physical and mental wellness. Each presentation is tailored to the organization’s needs, based on their request and held in the school or a community setting that best meets the needs of the target audience.
FAITH COLLABORATION PROGRAM
The Church partnership program is designed to facilitate the development of effective partnerships between the faith-based communities and The Healing Trees, Inc. by capitalizing on the role of these communities as cultural institutions and a natural support for Healing Trees clients and their families. We provide private and confidential Christian mental health services to Pastors, congregations, and church staff. The Healing Trees also provides private and confidential consultation for sensitive church concerns.
